The Belgian Charles Neuheus, an artisan chocolate maker who in 1870 opened a chocolate factory, creates and deposit on April 24, 1883 the brand Côte d'Or. With the name he refers to the Gold Coast, now Ghana, where he gets some of its cocoa beans. Only in 1906 the elephant, along with the palm tree and the three pyramids symbolizing the brand Côte d'Or. That this is still the trademark of Côte d'Or after a century, proves that this is an extremely strong logo
