Candy Description
Chabert and Guillot Montelimar Soft Nougat Bar is made with sugar, almonds, honey, whipped egg whites, and wafer paper. This white nougat is the most common variety and appeared in Montelimar, France in the 18th century.
The word nougat comes from Occitan pan nogat, from nux gatum, which means nutbread. The traditional confection is made from sugar and/or honey, roasted nuts, whipped egg whites, and sometimes candied fruit. Its consistency varies from soft and chewy to hard and brittle depending on its composition.
In southern Europe, where nougat likely originated, it is largely associated with Christmas but it can also be found at fairs and seaside stands year round.
Each bar of Soft Nougat de Montelimar by Chabert Guillot from France is 100 gr. or 3.52 ounces net weight.
