Carambar French Caramel Candy may as well be French for Caramels! One of our Top 10 French products, Carambar is sweet, rich, and chewy with just enough cocoa - you'll be tempted to eat them all at once but you might want to save a little for later! There's a legend behind this tasty treat stemming from 1954; the director of the company (Delespaul-Havez), Mr. Fauchille and an employee, Mr. Galois decided to use some surplus left over cocoa to create a new, original recipe for the company. A machine malfunctioned and created the bar shape loved 'round the world today. From '54 to '61 you would find points in the wrappers, redeeming them for various sweet Carambar swag. After that they replaced the points with little jokes, making the Carambar rewards highly collectible and hard to find! Today you can find them in a variety of flavors (sadly hard to find outside France!) like Lemon/Citron, Orange, Grenadine, Cola, Cherry, Candy Floss (cotton candy), Jaune, Rouge, Citron Vert (Lime), "Double Flavor", Cactus Green and more. The original caramel flavor with a hint of chocolate remains a favorite though and a great jumping off point for getting your feet wet with French caramels and candy.
