Sugar Skulls (Calaveras de Azucar) are a unique conversation piece that are edible, but can also last for years as decoration. Sugar Skulls are made in Mexico for Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) to celebrate loved ones who have passed away. This particular Sugar Skull was handmade by Francis, a Mexico City native, pastry chef and owner of Rustika Bakery in Houston. She decorates every skull by hand making them each slightly different.
